WALGREENS: POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH FOR COVID-19 VACCINE RECIPIENTS
Walgreens continues successful COVID-19 vaccine campaign nationwide
A recent survey of 1,500 patients receiving a COVID-19 vaccination reveals positive mental health benefits
Walgreens (NASDAQ: WBA) has shared the encouraging results of an online survey they conducted designed to model the national outlook of those patients receiving a COVID-19 vaccination.
The poll was conducted between April 19 to April 21, 2021, and based on data from:
- 1,500 COVID-19 vaccinated patients 18 years of age or older in various locations nationwide
- Patients that had received 1 or 2 doses of a 2-dose vaccine regimen from Moderna (NASDAQ: MRNA) or Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) or the single-dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ)
Walgreens has been administering an array of immunizations at its stores for years and was the first company to offer seasonal flu shots through all of its pharmacies nationwide by 2009.
Promising outlook of COVID-19 vaccinated patients will encourage others to get immunized
Despite the discomfort and safety concerns of those receiving a COVID-19 immunization, the Walgreens data strongly demonstrates the benefits of getting the vaccine.
Of the 1,500 patients surveyed, the favorable state-of-mind they experienced following their immunization was decisively robust:
- 73% had a more positive mental health outlook than what they felt at the start of the pandemic
- 64% of the survey respondents felt relief after receiving it
- 67% believed the COVID-19 vaccination will improve their physical being
- 86% were more positive about getting together with family and friends
- 75% looked forward to dining out
These promising results will hopefully be the convincing nudge more persons need to move forward with getting a COVID-19 vaccination.
As the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expanded the original emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to include patients 12 through 15 years of age, even more adults and teens can realize these benefits.
Walgreens continues to lead in the battle against COVID-19
Walgreens was one of the first national retail pharmacy chains selected by the federal government to launch the national rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations by administering them in nursing homes to patients and their caregivers.
The company continues to be at the forefront in the battle against COVID-19 with nationwide in-store patient testing and immunization services plus offsite vaccination administration for various organizations and at community events across the country.
Effective Wednesday, May 5th, Walgreens began offering same-day COVID-19 vaccination appointments at all retail locations nationwide with walk-in appointments available at select stores.
Innovation and expansion of healthcare services at Walgreens is well underway
The company recently signed on Roz Brewer from Starbucks as their new chief executive officer. She is one of the few Fortune 500 black woman CEOs.
She is leading the company into a new era of success that includes a $1 billion partnership with VillageMD to open more than 500 primary care clinics aligned with Walgreens stores nationwide. The company generated more than $139.5 billion in sales during 2020.
Based in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois, Walgreens (NASDAQ: WBA) is a global leader in pharmacy services and patient care with more than 9,200 stores and a 28% share of ownership in AmerisourceBergen (NYSE: ABC), one of the world’s largest healthcare wholesalers.
